Road trip from North Potomac, MD → Orlando, FL and back. Staying at Disney's Art of Animation Resort — Finding Nemo Family Suites. Two Disney days: Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom (dropped Universal for AK based on overwhelming feedback from 20+ Disney veterans), plus a free water park day on check-in and rest/pool days. Twins are under 3 → FREE at all parks.

- Afternoon: Adventureland/Frontierland (Jungle Cruise, Pirates) + parade
- Evening (if kids can hang): Buzz Lightyear, Carrousel at dusk, fireworks

MK without Lightning Lane means 45-60 minute waits for popular rides. With 4 young kids in August heat, this is money well spent. Rider swap lets adults take turns on the bigger rides while the other stays with kids.

Why AK as the second park: Less overwhelming than a second MK day, no Lightning Lane needed, animals + shows + rides for all ages, calmer pace. Great follow-up to the MK marathon. No loud fireworks — light show instead. The Facebook group agreed: if you're doing two Disney days with young kids, MK + AK is the ideal combo.

The line moves fast and it's worth it. Also now available at Saratoga Springs Backstretch Pool Bar if you want them on a non-park day.
- 🍍 Dole Whip (Aloha Isle, Adventureland) — Pineapple soft serve. The iconic Disney snack. Get the float version with pineapple juice. Pro tip: mobile order to skip the line.
- 🍗 Turkey Leg (Frontierland cart) — It's a rite of passage. Shareable, messy, and better than it has any right to be. One feeds two adults.
- 🌭 Corn Dog Nuggets (Casey's Corner, Main Street) — Mini corn dogs with cheese sauce. Kids will crush these. Get the fries too.
- 🍦 Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar — Vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate. Available at carts everywhere. The photo-op snack.

- Orin & Dylan (~23 months): Free at parks, still in diapers. Naps dictate pace. Baby Care Centers at MK (Main Street) and AK (Discovery Island).
- Rylee (5): Will love Fantasyland rides, parades, character sightings, Dumbo, Small World.

- 🔥 August heat: Midday breaks 12–3 PM are non-negotiable. Cooling towels, sunscreen, hats, water bottles. Epic Universe has very little shade — the group was emphatic about this.

Bring: Zoe double stroller (for twins). Leave the wagon at home.

🍽️ Kids Eat Free Promo (2026)
⚠️ Potentially big savings — worth investigating
Disney's 2026 "Free Dining Plan for Kids" promo: Kids ages 3-9 eat free when adults purchase a dining plan as part of a Walt Disney Travel Company package.
How it works:
- Astrid (7) and Rylee (5) qualify — twins are under 3, already free
- Requires buying a dining plan for Dom & Sarah for the entire stay
- Quick-Service Dining Plan: ~$57/adult/day → ~$570 for 5 nights
- Disney Dining Plan (table service): ~$95/adult/day → ~$950 for 5 nights
